After a decade of working in the fast paced fashion world in what she originally thought was her absolute dream career, Baby is a Star founder, Laura Kronen, felt unfulfilled and soon explored other opportunities. What actually ended up inspiring her the most, and giving her solid direction was having her first baby. Baby is a Star, Inc was formed almost days after the birth of her first son, Jesse. Laura really wanted to be able to be at home with her son, and experience "all of his firsts", but she was also was a business woman at heart. The best thing she could do was start her own company and be able to make her own schedule! The very first product she developed was an entertaining and educational video series for babies and toddlers called BABY ROAD TRIP. In the past three years, Kronen has created and marketed four multi award-winning videos. A portion of the profits from Baby Road trip go to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Kronen is a Type 1 diabetic who is intent on helping to find a cure. Never one to be limited by obstacles or afraid of challenges, Kronen uses her knowledge and diligence in taking care of herself to educate and help others.
While newly pregnant with her second son, Brett, in Spring 2005, Kronen was quickly reminded of the bouts of frustration she had with the fit of her maternity clothing during her first pregnancy. All of her pants and skirts would not stay put on her hips. They would fall down, spin around, and just not look flattering to her ever-changing shape. From the most expensive 7 for all Mankind Jeans to Old Navy cargo pants, the pants would creep down and start sagging as she moved about. Tired of always tugging and pulling them up, Kronen put together a "suspender of sorts" that attached to her bra and to the top of her pants, and she started wearing them everyday. No one saw what she was wearing, and best of all the unique creation worked with pants, skirts, shorts - you name it! The sagging problem was history! Kronen started asking other mommies-to-be if they had the same issues, and they did. After a bit more research, BELLY UPS - Maternity's answer to a belt, was born!
BELLY UPS are now available at maternity boutiques, gift boutiques and webtailers nationwide. In fact, Belly Ups are expanding from the maternity market to being a product used by all women who want a little help keeping their low rise pants up or who don't want to flash their undies when bending over.
Laura Kronen is now hard at work on other innovative products for the maternity, women's and children's market, and you can expect another unique product from Baby is a Star to arrive in just a few months time!
Laura Kronen is 36 years old and originally from New York City. She now lives in Atlanta, GA with her husband, Shawn and 2 young sons - Jesse (3) and Brett (10 months). She is a full time mom AND entrepreneur who has inspired many other women to start their own companies. Passion is clearly one of the keys to Kronen's success: From the time she left the fashion world for something more meaningful to her, Laura Kronen has held fast to the passions, both family and career that move her.
