From Playdough and Poop to President!
Wow Wew! What an honor to be part of such a fantastic group! My life has been a whirlwind of events especially lately!
I'm a mother of 5 great kids (4 girls+ 1 boy). When I had my first child at 20 years of age, I realized my life had changed drastically. At the time I gave up any plans and dreams, (I wanted to be a stewardist, a teacher, or a cosmotologist....) At that point those dreams sub-sided and I wanted to be a mom. I was totally consumed and in love with that beautiful baby, my dreams could wait now there was "Ashley"!
As young couples usually do, we struggled to pay the rent and buy groceries. We worked opposite shifts so Ashley always had one of us with her. Two years later Sara was born. I knew things had to change. I decided to start babysitting. A little extra money and home with my girls. :)
Well I never thought 16 years and Andrea, Mallory, and Nick would happen so fast! I ended up opening a licensed daycare in my home and my family grew! I loved kids- mine and everyone else's! I'm so pleased that none of my children spent even 1 minute in day care other than my own. I saw all their firsts, I was there every minute! What a blessing for their lives and mine. Needless to say I never picked up on my dreams, but lived for theirs. I did however feel so sad for the many women I came to know as I got to love their children 8-10 hours a day. I saw them head out the door, off to work... I would fill them in on our day when they came to pick their child up... how many adorable things they missed...
Our family moved several times, my husband had graduated college and was on the fast track, climbing that corporate ladder. With every promotion came a relocation, he was always dressed sharp in his business suits, doing presentations, and trainings, flying here and there...
I added it up and I think in 16 years of childcare I have changed 124,800 diapers... I could make a turkey out of a handprint, and created some great refrigerator art...
About 10 years ago one of my day care parents had a party. She told me how I could simply buy her company's laundry soap and cleaning supplies and share that with a few friends, and then the company would send me a thank you check! Wow, imagine that? I thought it was brilliant and set out to tell the world! I guess I was bitten by the bug... things I never heard of, residual income, leverage, entepreneurship...
How great to be able to earn extra income from home, and to help others, particularily women, those other moms...
For several year I studied the industry, and I tried several different companies. I met wonderful people from all around the world, I made money and lost money...
What I did do was start to dream again!!!
This year our family moved again... I was asked to become the "President" of Liberty Health Net! We packed things up, there are no longer any diapers in the house... you will still find some playdough though! :)
My dream is to help women all around the world, be all they can be, do what is most important to you, realize your worth! The Women Empowering Women group will become a movement! (Did I mention I can do the Hokey Pokey?)
